◎简　　介

　　《万世师表》是萨姆·伍德导演的美国片，故事背景是一家英国的公立党校。影片透过多纳特的精彩表演，把一个终生奉献给教育的好老师塑造得栩栩如生，在奥斯卡金像奖的角逐中击败了《乱世佳人》男主角克拉克·盖博而赢得金像奖。

　　英国舞台剧演员出身的罗伯特·多纳特饰演内向而严肃的老师契普先生，因为在参加游行时遇到自由主义者的女演员凯瑟琳，在爱情的感化下逐渐变成一位重视操守却不失可爱的老师，在学生的支持下终于迎娶佳人。可结婚不久，凯瑟琳因意外身亡，契普先生强忍个人悲痛，继续坚持理想把学校办下去……
